Location QR code generator
Help people find you. The code opens your exact spot in their maps app, ready for directions.
What is a location QR code?
A location QR code opens a place in the phone's maps app, ready for directions. It's the easiest way to get people to a venue, entrance or parking spot. On RelyQr you can paste a Google Maps or Apple Maps link, use where you are, or type coordinates, and the place fills in.
What’s inside the code
https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=18.5204,73.8567
A static code holds a Google Maps link to the exact spot, which opens in Google Maps or the browser. A dynamic code holds a short link that opens Apple Maps on iPhones and Google Maps everywhere else.
How to make a location QR code
- 1
Pick the place
Paste a Google Maps or Apple Maps share link, use where you are, or type the latitude and longitude.
- 2
Name it
Add a place name so people know they've got the right spot.
- 3
Download or go dynamic
Download it free, or make it dynamic: iPhones then open Apple Maps, and you can move the pin later.
What happens when someone scans it
A static code opens Google Maps (the app if installed, or the website). A dynamic code opens Apple Maps on iPhones and Google Maps everywhere else.
Static or dynamic?
Static is fine for a permanent address. Choose dynamic for a venue that might move, like a pop-up, market stall or event, or if you want iPhones to open Apple Maps and to count scans.
No watermark, and RelyQr codes never expire, on any plan. Static vs dynamic, explained
Where people use location QR codes
- Event invitations and wedding cards
- Flyers for a new shop or pop-up
- Parking and entrance signs
- Holiday rental welcome books
Printing a location QR code
On invitations and flyers, 2.5 to 3 cm wide. On entrance and parking signs read from a car or across the street, go big: a code read from 5 m needs to be about 50 cm wide. QR code size chart
- To copy a share link, tap Share in Google Maps or Apple Maps, then Copy link.
- Make it dynamic if the venue might change.
Location QR code not working?
- The pin is in the wrong place
- Paste the share link of the exact place, or copy coordinates from the spot. A dynamic code lets you move the pin without reprinting.
- iPhones open Google Maps in the browser
- Static codes use Google Maps links. Make the code dynamic to open Apple Maps on iPhones.
- People aren't sure it's the right place
- Add a place name when you create the code so it shows with the pin.

Location QR code questions
Can I paste a Google Maps or Apple Maps link?
Yes. Paste the share link of a place and RelyQr reads its pin and name. You can also use your current location or type coordinates.
Which maps app opens?
Static location QR codes open Google Maps. Dynamic ones open Apple Maps on iPhone and Google Maps on Android and computers.
Can I move the location after printing?
Yes, with a dynamic location QR code: move the pin and the printed code follows.
Does a location QR code work without the internet?
The phone needs a connection to load the map, but the location itself is inside a static code, so it never stops pointing to the right place.
Is a location QR code free?
Yes. Static location QR codes are free and unlimited on RelyQr, with no watermark. A dynamic one uses one of the free plan's 3 dynamic codes.
