QR code scanner

Scan with your camera, or from an image or screenshot. Free, private, no sign-up.

Or drop a screenshot here, or paste one. Images are read in your browser and never uploaded.

How it works

To scan a QR code online, tap Scan with camera and point it at the code, or upload a photo or screenshot that contains one. RelyQr reads the code in your browser, shows what it holds, a link, Wi-Fi details, a contact or text, and lets you check the address before opening it. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.

How to scan a QR code from an image

  1. 1

    Get the image

A photo of the code, a screenshot, or an image saved from an email or web page.

  2. 2

    Upload, drop or paste it

Tap Upload an image, drag the file onto the scanner, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V or ⌘V.

  3. 3

    Read the result

The scanner shows what the code holds. Check a link's address before you tap Open link.

On a phone, the built-in camera reads QR codes too; see how to scan a QR code on iPhone and Android.

What this scanner reads

Code holdsYou see
A web linkThe full address, with Open link and Copy
Wi-Fi detailsThe network name, password and security type
A contact card (vCard)The contact's name
An email or phone numberThe address or number, with Open
Plain textThe text, ready to copy

Private by design

The image never leaves your device: your browser decodes it using its own barcode detector where it has one, or a decoder that runs on the page. RelyQr doesn't see the image or what the code contains, and the camera turns off as soon as a code is found.

Scan safely

A QR code can't harm your device by itself, but it can lead to a fake page. Read the address before opening it, be wary of stickers placed over another code, and don't enter passwords or card details on a page you reached from a code you're unsure of. More in are QR codes safe?

QR code scanner questions

Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot?

Yes. Upload the screenshot, drop it onto the scanner, or paste it with Ctrl+V or ⌘V. The scanner reads codes that are only a small part of the picture too.

Is this QR code scanner free?

Yes. It's free, needs no account, and has no limit on how many codes you scan.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Codes are decoded in your browser, so the image and what it contains stay on your device.

Can I scan a QR code on my computer?

Yes. Upload or paste an image of the code, or use your laptop's camera with Scan with camera.

Why can't it find a QR code in my image?

The code may be too small, blurry, cut off or low in contrast. Use a sharper picture with the whole code in view, including its margin.
