Free QR code generator

Paste a link, style it and download. No account, no watermark, and the code works forever. Want to change the link after printing? Switch it to dynamic.

What is a QR code?

A QR code generator turns a link into a square code that phone cameras can read. RelyQr's free generator makes static QR codes with your logo and colours in your browser, with no sign-up and no watermark, and they never expire. Make a code dynamic to change the link after printing and see every scan.

What’s inside the code

https://chai.co/menu

A static code holds the address itself. A dynamic code holds a short go.relyqr.com link that forwards to the address you choose, so you can change it later and count scans.

How to make a QR code

  1. 1

    Paste your link

Any web page works: your menu, shop, booking page or a Google Doc. We add https:// for you.

  2. 2

    Make it yours

Pick dots and corners, colours or a gradient, add your logo and a call to action like “Scan me”. Every design is test-scanned as you go.

  3. 3

    Download and print

PNG up to 4096 px for screens, SVG, PDF or EPS for print, plus print-ready PDFs with bleed, sticker sheets and table tents.

What happens when someone scans it

The phone's camera shows the link's address, and a tap opens it in the browser. Nothing to install, on iPhone or Android.

Static or dynamic?

Pick static for a link that will never change, like your home page: it's free, unlimited and keeps working as long as the page exists. Pick dynamic for anything printed that might change, like a menu, offer or campaign page, or when you want to count scans. A free account includes 3 dynamic codes.

Where people use QR codes

  • Posters and flyers that open your website
  • Shop windows that link to opening hours or a booking page
  • Business cards and packaging that link to your store
  • Slides and handouts that link to the full document

Printing a QR code

Print the code at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide. For posters and signs, make it about a tenth of the distance people scan from: a code read from 2 m needs to be about 20 cm wide. Leave a clear light margin around it, at least four dots wide. QR code size chart

  • Print it at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide, and about a tenth of the distance people scan from.
  • Keep dark dots on a light background; light-on-dark fails on many older phones.
  • Scan the downloaded file with your own phone before you send it to print.

QR code not working?

The camera doesn't react
Check the contrast: dark dots on a light background, with a clear margin around the code. Glossy laminate and reflections also stop scans, so try a matte finish.
It scans, but the page doesn't open
The link itself may be wrong or the page may be down. Open it on a computer first. With a dynamic code you can fix the link without reprinting.
It only scans up close
The code is too small for the distance, or too dense. Print it bigger, shorten the link, or switch to dynamic: a short link makes a simpler pattern.
The logo stops it scanning
Keep the logo under about a quarter of the code and away from the three corner squares. RelyQr raises error correction to the highest level when you add a logo and test-scans the design.

QR code questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. Static codes are free and unlimited, with every design option and file format, and no watermark. A free account adds 3 dynamic codes you can edit after printing.

Do the codes expire?

No. A static code holds the link itself, so it works for as long as the link does. Dynamic RelyQr codes keep working on every plan, even if you stop paying.

What's the difference between static and dynamic?

A static code prints the link straight into the pattern, so it can never change. A dynamic code points to a short link you can redirect any time, and every scan is counted.

Can I add my logo?

Yes. Add a PNG, JPG or SVG; we switch error correction to the maximum so the code still scans with part of it covered, and check it at three sizes.

Can I use RelyQr QR codes commercially?

Yes. Codes made with RelyQr, free or paid, can go on packaging, ads, menus and anything else you print or sell, with no attribution and no watermark.

Is there a scan limit?

No. RelyQr doesn't limit scans on any plan, static or dynamic. You can set a limit on a dynamic code yourself if you want it to stop after a number of scans.

Which file format should I download?

PNG for screens, documents and office printers. SVG, EPS or PDF for print shops, packaging and large signs, because vector files stay sharp at any size.

Can I make QR codes in bulk?

Yes, on the Business plan: upload a CSV to create up to 1,000 codes per batch, each with its own link and design.
