WhatsApp QR code generator

One scan opens WhatsApp with your number and a ready-to-send message. Great for orders, bookings and support.

What is a WhatsApp QR code?

A WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with your number, often with a first message already typed, like “Hi, I'd like to order”. It uses WhatsApp's wa.me click-to-chat link, so it works on any phone with WhatsApp and people don't need your number saved. They still choose whether to send.

What’s inside the code

https://wa.me/919876543210?text=Hi!%20I'd%20like%20to%20order

wa.me needs the full international number with no +, spaces or leading zero, then the message in URL form. A dynamic WhatsApp code holds a short link that forwards to this address.

How to make a WhatsApp QR code

  1. 1

    Add your number

Your full WhatsApp number with the country code, like +91 98765 43210.

  2. 2

    Write a first message

Optional, but it helps: “Hi! I'd like to order…” tells you where people found you.

  3. 3

    Download or track it

Download it free, or make it dynamic to change the number later and count every chat started.

What happens when someone scans it

The code opens wa.me, which launches WhatsApp with a new chat to your number and the message filled in. People still choose whether to send it.

Static or dynamic?

Static is fine for a number you'll keep for years. Choose dynamic if the number might change, if you want a different first message later, or to count how many chats each poster or menu starts.

No watermark, and RelyQr codes never expire, on any plan. Static vs dynamic, explained

Where people use WhatsApp QR codes

  • Takeaway menus: “Order on WhatsApp”
  • Shop windows for after-hours enquiries
  • Delivery boxes for reorders and feedback
  • Service vans and trade show stands

Printing a WhatsApp QR code

On takeaway menus and flyers, 2.5 to 3 cm wide. On a shop window people scan from 1.5 m, about 15 cm. QR code size chart

  • Include the country code, or people abroad can't reach you.
  • Use a WhatsApp Business number to add greeting and away messages.

WhatsApp QR code not working?

WhatsApp says the number isn't on WhatsApp
Check the number has its country code and no leading zero, and that it's registered with WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business.
The message is missing
Some phones cut very long prefilled messages. Keep it to one short sentence.
People abroad can't reach you
Without the country code, the number is read as a local one in their country. Always include it.

WhatsApp QR code questions

Does the person need my number saved?

No. A WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with you directly, without saving your number first.

Is the message sent automatically?

No. The chat opens with the message typed in, and the person taps Send. Nothing is sent without them.

Can I change the number or message later?

Yes, if you make the WhatsApp QR code dynamic. A static code keeps the number and message it was printed with.

Does it work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. A WhatsApp QR code works with any WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business number.

How is this different from WhatsApp's own QR code?

WhatsApp's in-app codes look the same for everyone. A RelyQr WhatsApp code can carry your logo, colours and a frame, and a dynamic one counts scans and can change number without reprinting.

Is a WhatsApp QR code free?

Yes. Static WhatsApp QR codes are free and unlimited on RelyQr, with no watermark. A dynamic one uses one of the free plan's 3 dynamic codes.
