QR codes for real estate
By Prabhneet Singh Narula, founder of RelyQr · Updated
Short answer
Estate agents put QR codes on for-sale signs, flyers and window cards so buyers can see the full listing, a photo gallery or a video tour, book a viewing or save the agent's details on the spot. Use dynamic codes: when a property sells, point the same sign at the next listing, and see which signs bring the most interest.
The QR codes an agent needs
| Code | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Image gallery | Up to 12 property photos in a swipeable gallery | For-sale signs, window cards |
| Video | A walk-through or drone tour | Signs, flyers, brochures |
| Website | The full listing on your site or a portal | Flyers and adverts |
| Form | Open-house sign-in or a viewing request | The front door at an open house |
| vCard | Saves your contact details | Business cards and sign riders |
| Location | Directions to the property | Invitations and flyers |
One sign, many listings
Signs and riders get reused. With a dynamic code, the same printed sign can open this property's gallery today and the next property's next month: change the destination in your account and the sign follows. That also means a typo in the listing link never costs you a reprint.
Sizes for signs and print
| Placement | Scanned from | Code width |
|---|---|---|
| Yard or for-sale sign | 3-5 m, often from a car | 30-50 cm |
| Window card | 1-2 m | 10-20 cm |
| Flyer or brochure | 30-50 cm | 3-4 cm |
| Business card | 20-30 cm | 2-2.5 cm |
Signs are read from a distance and an angle, so err on the large side and add a line like “Scan for photos and price”.
A worked example
An agent lists a flat and puts a gallery code on the sign and a video-tour code on the flyer. An open-house sign-in form at the door replaces the paper sheet, and responses arrive in RelyQr straight away. When the flat sells, the sign's code is pointed at the agent's next listing on the same street.
What to measure
- Scans per sign, to see which streets and listings draw interest.
- Scans by time of day, to plan open-house hours.
- Form sign-ins against visitors at the door.
Questions people also ask

Yes, if it's dynamic: change its destination and the printed sign opens the new listing.
How big should a QR code be on a for-sale sign?

Can buyers see photos without an app?
Yes. Galleries, videos and forms open in the phone's browser.
